Diabetic- Blood Glucose Monitoring
If you are diabetic your provider has likely told you that you need to monitor your blood glucose regularly. Even if you are pre-diabetic you may be monitoring your blood glucose to help get to know your body and its fluctuations in blood sugar, and then take necessary steps to keep it in a safe range. There are many types of monitors on the market and sometimes your prescription insurance company dictates to you which monitor you can use. Deciding on which monitor to use and making sure you get the proper supplies can get overwhelming, so be sure to come see the health care professionals at Island Prescription Center and let them help you with the choices.
Rise in Diabetes in the United States
The CDC’s latest report on diabetes in the United States finds that over 9% of Americans have diabetes and more than 1/3 of U.S. adults are currently pre-diabetic and many of these are unaware. We all need to take better care of ourselves and the one body we are given in life. There is so much information available on what to eat and how much to exercise and what type of exercise is best that it can often be overwhelming, but unfortunately obesity is the leading cause of the rise of diabetes in our country.
The staff at Island Prescription Center can help you with what you need to know to stay or get healthy.
